4A Forming an opportunity Belief

           I would like to talk about the problem I faced when I lived in apartment. Most of my classes are placed on day time, till 5-6pm. However, my apartment office finishes their business at 5pm, so I do not have anyways to get them any pay my rent. They don’t have online system of it, of course, no box for dropping rents. I guess this would be an opportunity exists.

           The unmet need on this point is how to pay my rent. The only way to pay the rent is just by walk, go to their office and give them a check. I think the residents should need more ways to pay the rent fees. Online payment system is in everywhere these days. The need was always there because they have never changed their system before; but, they changed it recently. They do not even open on weekends and they close earlier somedays. Of course, there are late fees in the rent system, and the residents that I know always complained about it.

1.     My roommate YongHo

A.     He said that he also feels uncomfortable on this system. He is kind of early bird, so he did not really think about this, but he paid late fee on his 3^nd or 4^th months of the contract, and realized this is a problem. He also said they had to figure out the way to pay the rent when the resident is out of the situation. I mean like emergency situations. He said as most of people prefer online payment, he also wants this system.

-       By interviewing my formal roommate, I could see that opportunity still exists. It was surprising that the early bird like him had same thoughts like me and he never thought about box or space for rent payment.

2.     My friend who lives next to the office Eli

A.     Eli, one of my best friend used to live around the apartment office. I guess it would take 100 seconds from his door to office. He did not really identify with me and my roommates. As I said, he just lives next to the office so he can pay whenever he wants, payment never suffered him. However, during the conversation, he said for someone who leaves apartment for a while, they should figure out the system.

-       By interviewing my best friend, I realized people who live next to the office would not feel uncomfortable or needs to solve the problem. However, I saw an opportunity because people might be out of the place for a while.

3.     My friend who lives far from the office Ryan

A.     Ryan lives even far from my apartment. I think it would take around 15-minute by walk from his place to office. He said that the office definitely needs an online payment, cause he does not want to walk to office every month. He said he is riding a bike to get to office. Of course, he does not really like this way, because this was one of the main reasons for him to buy bike and he does not really want to go outside generally.

3 people I interviewed had similar and different ideas about the needs, but, I could see the opportunity still exists, as they had thoughts of the problem. I personally think that another or new opportunity would rise and has occurred more powerfully, to find out resident or people have same opinions. I heard this problem has been issued recently, and they are trying to figure this out, even though it took some money to put the online system and website. However, they would save time and money by the solution.
