7A Testing the Hypothesis
I lived several cities in United States, Boston, Massachusetts,
Eugene, Oregon, San Francisco, California, Houston, Texas, and Gainesville,
Florida. Those cities are different, but they share one specific problem. The
Parking problem.
I'm definitely sure that most of students or residents who
have car have faced this problem at least once in this city. So the opportunity
I would like to talk about is the solving parking space problem by smart
phone application
-
Who:
people
-
What:
hard to find place to park their car
-
Why:
College parking space is restricted for college faculties or residents, so do
apartments parking space
-
Testing
the Who: The person who owns a car, and have ever faced problem on finding out
parking space
-
Testing
the What: How they find out the parking space, where they park, difference
between city and small town.
-
Testing
the Why: It would make people to save their time on finding out parking space,
and it would manage the parking space efficiently
Interview 1: My church friend – He is the person who
usually gives me a ride. He lives in SpyGlass apartment, which has pretty
enough parking space. So he said he does not really need to find the parking
space, but he would prefer to park his car around his house, so what he wanted
was managing space efficiently, so people can park their car around their house
or closer.
Interview 2: My formal roommate in Boston. –Boston was
different as Gainesville. As it is one of the biggest cities in United States.
In Boston, it is hard to find public parking spaces, and it is usually full.
Most of parking spots are limited for residents, but also most of the spaces
are required to pay. He had tickets several times by parking car around sidewalk,
so he really wants to find out the parking spaces.
Interview 3: My roommate – He said my idea is really
interesting, cause this is what every people needs. He does not have a car, but
he said when he was with his friends, the driver always suffers from the
parking places or tickets.
Interview 4: My parents – I talked about the venture,
and they said it would work definitely. They live in apartment so they have
never faced parking problem around home, but they had when they went to
restaurant. In Boston, some of restaurants are just placed in street blocks so
some cars just park right next to the sidewalk. There are sign of parking such
as ‘resident only’, so they had to move around and around to find the places.
Interview 5: Classmate- He has his own car, but he
couldn’t find the place to park in school, (the parking spaces around his class
building are just for faculties or residents), so he uses bus to get to school.
He said last week, he parked he missed the bus, so he parked his car at McDonalds,
which makes me feel sad. He wants to see this application as soon as possible
so he does not have to park his car again in McDonalds.
The thing I learned : This idea looks like surely
needed than I thought. Most of people faced parking problems, whether they had
car or not. I can see the necessity of this application.
Parking is definitely a problem across not only college towns but cities around the world as well. I am interested to see what solutions you come up with for such a major problem. The solution can't be easy or else someone would have thought of it by now I feel like. Parking lots already take up massive amounts of valuable land in cities.
답글삭제I would agree. Parking anywhere you go is always a hassle. But I feel like there aren't that many solutions to this problem other than making more spots available by building more parking lots or parking garages. What would the application do? But this would be a great opportunity to go for because parking is always a problem and there needs to be a way to make it more efficient.
