My Entrepreneurship Story

I don’t really think I have a time that I’ve been exposed to entrepreneurship, but I have similar one. When I was in Boston, like 2 years ago, one of my roommate was doing start-up business, which is called ‘Angela&Roi’. It is fashion brand, usually deals with female handbags and donate the certain amount of money they earned to charity. One day, during the winter vacation, he asked me to help for his business. It was not a big thing, what I had to do was just put stuffing paper into handbags. They do have contract with factory, but some of products got defected, so what he thought was trying to shape this as good as they can and donate it to charity. Winter in Boston is blizzard. Actually he does not really have to donate his profits or products. At the end of the work, I asked him why he related his business with charity. Maybe he could get more money if he does not donate his stuff. However, the words he told me is still in my mind. “I think there should 1 team who does great works or charity. And that’s us! Why not? Even though I would not make more money than expected, I can do ‘good things’ and make society better.”

The reason why I enrolled this class is related to him. He said one of the most impressive class he had in his college life in Boston University was taking ‘Entrepreneurship’ Course. I know it would sound stupid, but to be honest, this is the reason why I took this class. I do really hope to get closed to him and get same concepts or thoughts like him.

  1. That's a really interesting story. Its very neat to see another way a person can get motivated or influenced into starting something new such as this class and a business. That is a really neat idea by your roommate to donate some of the defected products and earnings to charity. Its hard being an entrepreneur as it is and to be demoted to something you enjoy and give back to society is great. Nice Post!
