20A growing your social capital


1) One person must be a domain person in your industry.

I am not sure I did right on this one.
So, as my business would be treated as start-up at very first, I tried to contact one of my best mentor, Joon Park.
He was formal Korean Student Association in Boston University, and did one start-up in US called Freenters, which let college students to print out their stuff for free with small ads on below, and currently doing another start-up in Korea called Antock, which serves big data of stock market and industry to people so they can make better decision on their stocks and investments.
I used to live in Boston and lived with him, so it was not hard to contact him.

He told me that my idea looks possible, but would face lots of regulations like what Uber and Lyft faced, the real time program and technology and safety issue.

The point he told me was how can we make benefits from this business.
I thought that i would make service by ads, but he said i need more specific information of market demands and how to relate my service to revenue.

2) One person must be a expert in your market

I tried to find out someone in a same area, but I could not find any of them.

I emailed Uber customer service, cause they were in same business, about car, how they work on their problems and how they get feedback but they did not answer me back yet.

3) One person must be an important supplier to your industry.

As it is smart phone application, there is not important supplier in this industry. So, I asked my friend, Joseph who posted mobile game on market before about it, and he said what I have to do is just apply and pay for a fee of that app store.

Reflection: It was pretty hard to find expert and supplier in my business, cause it is just park space finder, we don't need special human skills or knowledge, just looking for usability and convenience. I did not really think about making benefits from the business, which is definitely important thing. I realized I should figure out how my business model can make money from service and how it could affect customers.
